Available techniques
Specialised therapy options
Each technique has a different purpose, procedure and set of precautions. The final treatment choice is made after clinical screening.
Dry Cupping Therapy
Dry cupping uses controlled suction through specially designed cups placed on the skin. It may be considered as part of a physiotherapy plan for selected areas of muscle tightness or restricted movement.
Important: Temporary circular marks, mild tenderness or skin sensitivity may occur after treatment.
Dry Needling Therapy
Dry needling uses sterile, single-use fine needles to target selected muscular trigger points. It may be included with exercise and rehabilitation when the physiotherapist considers it appropriate.
Important: Mild soreness, temporary discomfort or small bruising may occur. Dry needling is different from acupuncture.
Hijama Therapy
Hijama, also known as wet cupping, combines controlled suction with small superficial skin openings. Because the procedure involves the skin, strict hygiene, screening and informed consent are essential.
Important: This therapy may not be appropriate for people with bleeding disorders, active infection or certain medicines.
Chiropractic Therapy
Chiropractic and manual joint techniques focus on selected movement restrictions through hands-on assessment, mobilisation or manipulation where clinically appropriate.
Important: Manipulation is not suitable for every condition. Fracture risk, neurological symptoms and other medical concerns must be screened first.
